Delayed Retail Reporting Transparency for OEM Sales Quality Monitoring

Problem and Context

An automotive sales organization needed a reliable way to identify retail registrations that appeared in the system only after a delay, as these late-reported vehicles distorted sales transparency and weakened confidence in management reporting. The analysis had previously been performed manually in Excel, with repeated filtering and case-by-case corrections whenever vehicles became visible only in later reporting periods. This mattered because delayed reporting affected KPI consistency, reduced trust in performance reviews, and created unnecessary manual effort in recurring sales monitoring.

Approach and Solution

The project translated a manual Excel-based control process into a centralized monitoring solution for delayed retail reporting. Working closely with business stakeholders, the team standardized the logic for identifying late registrations, integrated manually maintained category information into the governed data flow, and structured the reporting around the most relevant quality views. Users could analyze vehicles reported more than five working days late, review recent reporting-speed patterns over several weeks, and access defined snapshots for targeted validation. The result was a repeatable and auditable monitoring approach that embedded data-quality checks directly into the reporting process.

Results and Impact

The solution replaced spreadsheet-based exception handling with a more efficient and transparent process for monitoring retail reporting quality. It reduced manual effort, improved traceability of late-reported vehicles, and gave business users and management a faster way to assess reporting consistency across periods. By embedding delay logic and validation views into one centralized environment, the client established a more scalable basis for recurring data-quality monitoring in OEM sales reporting.
