Role-Based Sales Steering Dashboard for Management and Field Teams

Problem and Context

An automotive sales organization needed a shared steering view for management and field sales that would make retail performance, order intake, and production development transparent in one place. The challenge was not only to provide different access levels for the two user groups, but also to make KPIs from multiple source systems directly comparable. Because relevant inputs came from both structured databases and business-owned Excel files, often at different levels of granularity, the client needed a harmonized dashboard that could support consistent day-to-day performance steering across product lines and models.

Approach and Solution

The project designed a central dashboard with clearly differentiated role-based views for management and field sales so each user group could focus on the KPIs most relevant to its decisions. In close collaboration with business stakeholders, data from databases and departmental Excel inputs was consolidated into harmonized reporting views that resolved comparability issues across source systems and aggregation levels. The solution centered on the three core steering dimensions of retail, order intake, and production, each benchmarked against plan and prior year, with flexible filtering by series and model to support recurring sales reviews and operational performance discussions.

Results and Impact

The solution established a consistent and centralized steering environment for management and field sales and improved comparability across previously fragmented KPI sources. It gave both user groups a faster and more structured basis for reviewing plan deviations, model-level developments, and operational priorities, while reducing ambiguity in recurring sales discussions. By combining harmonized metrics, role-based access, and practical drill-down capability in one environment, the dashboard became a scalable foundation for day-to-day sales steering across the organization.
